Bridges and Bandits Empty Bridges and Bandits

Post  Funkballs Tue 6 Jul 2010 - 16:02

Our brave adventurers begin their quest in the pretty town of Fallcrest Which sits on a picturesque mountain plateu. It lies on a trade route between Winterhaven in the west and Hammerfast in the east.

Bridges and Bandits Fallcr10

You have been working together for a short time killing rats and vermin and taking on other small time mercinary work which you have spent mostly on food, drink and wenches.

You have paid for two weeks lodging at the Blue Moon inn and alehouse run by a large tough-looking innkeeper who "don't take no crap from nobody."

One day you venture out into the marketplace, as you have many times before, looking for work.

You come across a flyer attached to a street post.

Adventurers Wanted.
Arcane Collections Inc. is looking for
a motivated team of mercenaries interested
in locating an item of great power. This is a
once in a lifetime opportunity to make a
name for yourselves. Inquire at the Blue Moon
Alehouse at sunrise for more details.

This looks like a pretty convenient deal seeing as you are staying there already so you head back towards the Alehouse to get some rest before your big adventure.

On your way back you find that the bridge has collapsed and has not yet been repaired.

Spartan, The 7 foot tall Goliath with a greatsword bigger than most people, simply teleports across with a short prayer to his deity.

He is followed swiftly by Eravan, an Eldarin Wizard who specializes in creating deadly floating balls of fire, who fey steps across the rushing waters below.

Their guide, an elven ranger, jumps nimbly from rock to rock ending with a stylish backflip on to the shore.

Next comes Mazzalato Priest of Bahamut. He magics down a tree to span the ravine and sprints gracefully across.

The Rogue hesitantly attempts to balance on Mazzalato's fallen tree trunk and makes it three quaters of the way across before falling flat on his face. The ranger quickly grabs his hand and pulls him to safety.

You continue on towards the tavern before being accosted in an alleyway by a dark cloaked figure.

Hello friends, could you spare some coin for a poor man down on his luck?

Spartan glares at him menacingly and intimidatingly tells him to leave.

Looking white as a sheet the man yells

Get Him Boys!!

Several more bandits appear from the shadows and are swiftly cut down by the expert blades and dark magics in the possesion of our mighty heroes.

Spartan sees an open window and tries to talk the rogue into sneaking in and stealing some stuff. The Priest, who cannot abide pointless thuggery, will have none of it and heads back towards the inn. Meanwhile Errevan sniggers mischieviously to himself.

Having successfully snuck into the house, the rogue motions to Spartan to join him. When they are both there Errevan emerges from his hiding place and casts a spell of light to illuminate the house, waking up it's occupants and effectively dropping the others into the proverbial shit.

Spartan leggs it out the window as fast as he can leaving the rogue to face the consequences of their actions. Only his quick wit and clever tongue allows him to carefully talk his way out of the situation.

Later that night Spartan, who cannot sleep, tries to sneak out of the inn to find something to do in town. He wears his loud, heavy armor and wakes up nearly everyone and is yelled at by the huge innkeeper.

Once outside he decides to climb onto the roof of the inn to see if he can see anything. This makes a huge noise causing him to be yelled at again by the innkeeper. After a hilarious missadventure involving sliding off church roofs, failing heaps of saves and finally breaking the log across the river and falling into the water, a wet tired Spartan stumbles back to the inn where he successfully manages to creep quietly up the stairs.

The door to his room seems to be stuck however so he lets out a mighty roar and brutally kicks the door down. The innkeeper comes running, grabs Spartan by his armour and throws him out of the second story window.

He spends the rest of the night in the stables.
